Before and After: Our Complete Flooring Renovation for a New Home Look

So, big news—I recently became a homeowner along with my hubby! And, like any excited new homeowner, my first thought wasn’t about furniture or unpacking; it was about renovating, especially the floors. Before moving in, we upgraded the flooring of the whole house. I’m talking about durable, easy-to-clean LVP flooring everywhere except the bedrooms and stairs, which we carpeted for extra coziness. And the best part? I’ve set up a dedicated art studio in the loft!

Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP)

This is the style of LVP we chose. This color/design was called “Just Lucky”

Let’s talk about the flooring decisions first because, honestly, I had way too much fun picking it all out. Pretty much 80% of the home was carpet. All the rooms except the bathrooms, kitchen, and a den area were all carpeted. Enter LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) flooring. Not only does it look great, but it’s a total champ with cleanup and durability. The decision process was easy. I saw the style I wanted and immediately knew that it was the one. See the picture above!

Before & After: The Transformation

The before photos tell quite a story: the loft space was pretty bare, and the floor was 40-year-old carpet, which didn’t exactly scream “creative wonderland.” For my studio space, I wanted something that could handle all the colorful chaos of creating without me stressing about every spill and splatter. Fast forward to today, and I couldn’t be happier. The new LVP gives it this polished, studio-ready look that still feels cozy, and the light in the room just makes everything pop. I'll add some before-and-after shots below so you can see the transformation—seriously, the change is amazing! I can get messy with paints, pastels, or even a rogue coffee spill, and it’ll just wipe right up. Perfect for someone who’s an artist-in-training (and, let’s be real, still figuring out how not to accidentally decorate the floor)!

My Art Studio!

I can’t wait to decorate, stay tuned!

In the bedrooms and on the stairs, we went with a fresh, soft carpet. It adds a warm, comfy vibe that makes the upstairs feel like a true retreat. But for the studio, the LVP is all about practicality.

Ready to Make Art Happen

Now, with the floor renovations done, I’m setting up my supplies, organizing my paints, and (maybe) finding a way to contain all the glitter that somehow gets everywhere. This studio is about to see some fun projects, from my watercolors to big dreams like adding in new mixed media and making STICKERS!

Stay tuned because the journey’s just getting started; you can follow along by joining my Poppy Mail HERE! I can’t wait to share more about how I’m making this space my own! And if you’re thinking of renovating a space for your own creative projects, I highly recommend finding materials that can handle your passion without holding you back.
